Meet Evi

Image
Just over a year ago, whilst working at True Knowledge , I made a video for the brand new artificial intelligence product we'd been designing and building throughout 2011. We'd been in stealth mode most of the year (very frustrating when you are creating something so exciting!) and Evi was gearing up to launch in January 2012. My initial job as Head of Knowledge had segued into a more product-oriented role, and after doing some user research in the autumn, the video part of the launch fell to me. Evi was still evolving and time was tight, so both scripting and production were more rushed than I'd've liked. Still, it's stood the test of time, and the video has now had over a quarter of a million views, making it one of the most wide-reaching things I've ever made! Evi is available on Android and iOS , and conversational search remains one of the most powerful and interesting consumer applications of AI.  Evi understands you, finds the best answer, and learn...

I don't think LinkedIn endorsements really mean anything - just whether LinkedIn users click buttons to make annoying sections of screen go away :) Nonetheless, it's amusing to see what people think one is good at.  Here's me, today: This probably isn't far off reality, although as something of a generalist with a habit of hopping disciplines every few years, it perhaps doesn't reflect each period of my professional life equally well. I suspect there are more people who know me through engineering on LinkedIn than there are people who know I've done work in open source. It will be interesting to see if this profile evolves over time (assuming LinkedIn keep the feature), and especially if it tracks as I do different things, or whether the existing biases in the endorsements will merely become more strongly emphasised (if the prompts to endorse me are based on existing endorsements). Hmm.
